MINUTES OF THE  MEETING HELD ON WEDNESDAY 2nd MAY 2007 8.00 P.M. IN THE VILLAGE HALL

 

1.      APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE: Andy Smith. Members of the public present: Cllr Diane Lamb, Ian Sheldon and Kerry Davies

2.      MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING held on Wednesday 4th April 2007 had been circulated prior to the meeting and a copy placed on the Notice Board. It was proposed by William Baxter and seconded by Eleanor Hoggart that these be signed.

3.      AGENDA ORDER – The agenda order was not revised.

4.      PLANNING

a) 07/00474/FUL – Single storey rear extension at 11 Stocks Hill Castor – no objection

5.      MATTERS ARISING

a)      Road Safety – The amount of articulated trucks that are travelling through the village at the moment was discussed and also signage for weight restriction through the village. Cllr. Lamb will make enquiries. William Baxter has arranged an appointment with Brian Rowcroft of the Highways Department at Peterborough City Council for the first week in June at 10 a.m. to come out and walk the village. All welcome to attend.

b)      Glebefield – Some of the stonewall has been repaired, but the wall along the public footpath is causing some concern; William Baxter will deal with this matter.

c)      Plaque for Chairman’s Bench – Martin Chillcott and Cllr. John Holdich have drafted some words, will need some amendments – John Taylor and Martin Chillcott will deal with this.

d)      Clay Lane development – Tracey Blackmore has spoken with the consultants, apparently they are having some difficulties with access and redrawing the designs and will get back to us

e)      Quality Status – John Taylor has spoken with James Pickett on this matter.

f)        Plot 26 Stonewall – Andy Smith has received a quote from Mark Sharpin for £400, Walter Howard will speak to Tim Enness.

g)      Granite posts on the Green and other areas – City Council Salvage department do not have any posts; William Baxter will investigate other councils.

h)      Village Cross – after discussion it was decided that due to the condition of the original cross a new one would be needed, possibly costing about £10,000. War memorial grants would be looked into, but also community funding.

i)        Children’s Play area – Martin Chillcott had looked at the play area in allotment lane and reported that the benches need repairing and also there is space for a new piece of equipment. Tracey Blackmore will find further information for Martin.

j)        Rotavator of allotments – Andy Smith had been investigating the prices of a rotavator, and had found two that would be suitable, costing £499 and £599. After discussion it was decided that this was something that the parish council did not want to pursue. It was discussed that perhaps if the allotment holders wanted to form a sub committee it would be of benefit to them.

k)      Bench in Splash Lane – a pro forma invoice has been received

l)        Ferryfields – The Clerk had been informed that the hedge in Ferryfields is the responsibility of the parish council. Stewart Wood will be asked for a quote to complete the work.

6.      FINANCE –

It was agreed that the annual return could be signed and the clerk will pass the accounts on to Bertie Fitzjohn, our internal auditor. 

7.      VILLAGE HALL MANAGEMENT – Ian Sheldon reported to the meeting that the next project would be the kitchen.
