Milton Ferry Bridge

Milton Ferry, c.1910, A view of the A47 that has now changed twice since this photograph. The gatekeeper's lodge, called Ferry Lodge, was a toll booth for the road and bridge tolls. It was built in nineteenth century decorative style opposite Milton Ferry Bridge. but is no longer there. It can now be seen up on the hill a few hundred yards away.

The Fitzwilliam Hunt meet at Milton Ferry (1906). At some distance to the east of Milton Hall were the kennels, built in 1767 in the form of a round medieval gatehouse. In the background can be seen Ferry House, named after Gunwade Ferry and formerly an inn. To the right is Ferry Lodge, now moved to a new site.
